Here’s the thing about Danna…she is driven! Whether it’s her, the band or her friends, she is devoted to the music and passionate about her friendships. And before you start thinking fluffy clouds and rainbows, let me assure you her voice is powerful, gusty and soulful…she delivers!

& Lindsey Buckingham

Why is the new album called: SUNNYLAND?

The album title is a shout-out to my hometown of Washington, Illinois and especially those from my little neck of the woods Sunnyland. “You can take the girl out of Sunnyland, but you can’t take the Sunnyland out of the girl!”

Music is a place with no rules : what’s not to like!

You can be rich, poor, male, female, black, white, gay, straight and music just welcomes you with a big hello...come on in...find something you like and dig in…and so I did.

I always loved to sing. It freed me. I was never really impassioned about anything else. So I finished college and moved to California to be a singer with two suitcases and 350 bucks.  I had huge fun...finding the right fit, playing the dives, touring the world, friendships, fending off the dickheads and finding the one who keeps my feet on the ground.

Born in Illinois, I have a wonderful family. I have a Bachelor ‘s and Master’s degree from Western Illinois University. I Love  Ava (aka “the Peanut”) and Clinton. Rescuing English Bulldogs is the bomb diggity! My all time idol is Koko Taylor, and I wish I could be a badass like Joan Jett or Chrissie Hynde…sadly I can’t but that doesn’t keep me from trying. Was signed by Warner Brothers, toured US and Scandinavia, opened for over 25 national acts, was asked to sing for Jefferson Starship, and am proud to have Liza and JP in my life and love any sentence that starts with “would you like to see the wine list”.

"This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; my philosophy is kindness." ~His Holiness the Dalai Lama

When I read this quote by His Holiness the Dalai Lama it spoke to me, resonated through me to my soul. It was like a light was turned on and I could see me so very clearly. I needed to change my state of mind to find peace, love and happiness through kindness.  And also everyday I try to keep that light on.

Because of the great differences in our ways of thinking, it is inevitable that we have different religions and faiths. Each has its own beauty. And it is much better that we live together on the basis of mutual respect and mutual admiration.    ~His Holiness the Dalai Lama

Love, kindness, compassion and tolerance are qualities common to all the great religions, and whether or not we follow any particular religious tradition, the benefits of love and kindness are obvious to anyone.                       ~       ~His Holiness the Dalai Lama

Great compassion is the root of altruistic action. It really is a source of wonder. There is no greater source of help and happiness. The capacity to devote yourself to the welfare of others yields otherwise unobtainable power and potential for good. Generate great compassion and you become a friend of the world and a companion of the warm-hearted.    ~ His Holiness the Dalai Lama

Many people think that patience is a sign of weakness. I think this is a mistake. It is anger that is a sign of weakness, whereas patience is a sign of strength.   ~ His Holiness the Dalai Lama
